#IronChefUptown Season 5

More details and dates TBA

Back from the dead…..IRON CHEF UPTOWN! We’re bringing it back baby, the most exciting culinary event the region has seen since Colonel Sanders got drunk at Ethel’s and spit in Tim Horton’s beer! The event will welcome local and out of town chefs to battle for culinary supremacy in our humble kitchen stadium. Instead of a secret ingredient we will be hosting an entire (secret) local farm! Perhaps it’s lamb from Charles Quality Meats, maybe its honeycomb and organic veggies from Soiled Reputation. Fans and farmers will be harsh but fair judges. You decide who gets to take home the trophy. Inspired by the famed and funny Japanese television show, chefs will be given 15 minutes to plan a menu and 60 minutes to create an hors d’oeuvre for the whole room and a menu with a minimum 3 courses for our panel of judges.

Not that this event needs any more reasons to come check it out but it does give back to our community, our last 4 seasons of #IronChefUptown raised over $10,000 for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region, and we hope to help again. For a recap on our last 4 seasons read Andrew Coppolino’s article below.

Makers Series: butchering, pickles, cocktails, bitters and more!

More details and dates TBA

Come be our guest as we welcome local experts into our kitchen to share their craft and experience with us. Classes will range from butchering to preserving to expert cocktail making and will include a mixture of hands on skill building and demonstrations.

Our kitchen will also be whipping up some snacks to coincide with the lesson of the night. Imagine learning how to break down a whole lamb while you snack on rosemary lamb brochettes, or learning how to preserve pickled beets and bringing a jar home. Or having handsome @ryeandwaterloo show you how to make the perfect craft cocktail while enjoying one (or two or six!). This series will be a fun and educational way to spend an evening uptown!

Sous Chef’s Stepping Out

More details and dates TBA

Always the bridesmaid never the bride. Sous chefs are sometimes under appreciated and too often their talent is hidden from view. So in this special series we will welcome some of the region’s most up and coming chefs to take over our kitchen for the night and show you what they’ve been hiding! We will invite two local sous chefs from different restaurants to work together to create one harmonious menu to offer up for one night only. Not only will this be a fun and supportive way to eat out, you’ll be the first on your block to know all about the next greatest chef KW is proud to call local!

Dude Where’s My Bar???

More details and dates TBA

A sort of industry night, but don’t worry you’re invited too! Cheap beer, expensive hipster approved cocktails, dressed up 420 snacks and industry discounts. This pop up will be easy on the wallet but hard on the liver! This event will pop up randomly when we feel compelled to party so keep an eye out for the #DudeWheresMyBar hashtag so you don’t miss out!
